The Staples Center in Los Angeles was filled with caped crusaders, villians and everything in between on Saturday.

To promote his upcoming animated movie Megamind, Will Ferrell encouraged fans to come out and help him break a world record. To break the Guinness World Record, they had to gather more than 1,500 costumed superheroes.

Participants had to be dressed as an "easily recognizable superhero that has appeared in a published book, comic, television program or film" for the record attempt. As the fans were counted by officials, the actor joked, "I plead for the audience to stay in their costumes for the entire month of October, so I figure that would be another record."

So did they gather enough? Yes! Guinness World Records bosses counted 1580 eligible participants, landing them the title of Largest Gathering of Superheroes.

Our very own Drew and Jonathan were on the scene at the event. Stay tuned to Cambio for that footage. We can bet it will be hilarious.
